First off… Jess and I now officially live together. That’s the deal. There will be more post about that in the future. That’s a fact. We’ve had a Thanksgiving and a Christmas and a New Years and a Ben moving ever f’n thing in the apartment while Jess is totally sick weekend extravaganza. That is truth. I promise at some point I will get to that and I will post pics and all will be glorisou. Tonight is all about Heroes though.
Listen to me when I tell you this. This week’s episode of Heroes is the reason I LOVE this show. First off they brought back Adam. I know he really only had like 1 power and that was talking British and healing, but he was still pretty awesome. I mean it took Peter’s dad sucking the life out of him to kill his ass. But that’s another sotryt. He came back and was in this trial type dealy with Hiro and Hiro’s dad and Hiro’s frind Ando and a bunch of other people. I swear it wasn’t the rum talkinb but the cinamatogrophy in these scenes was just like a little better than the rest of the show. I mean, it wasn’t like watching Avatar in IMAX but still. It was pretty damn good. To top that off Sylar totally made out with Clair. That’s gross, so I’ll go back to Hiro.I really just did like that whole story line about him being on trial. It was kind of a cop out, but what ever. That’s what makes the show awese.
The story with Sylar and Clair was a bit weak, but there’s really only so much you can do with a lesbian cheerleader, a chick with no powers, and a dude with every power in the world in cluding poers he forgot he had (liek the mechanic lady he killed that could hear anything). This story only served to progress the lovefest of Clair and what’shernuts. Either way it was decent, but still enjoyable.
The story of Samnuts and chick was passable. I almost felt like they threw that in there just to get Sam to be a bad guy again. He was getting to be kind of a P word. I mean he was all like “hey you, come be a carney and if you want to leave that’s cool, lemme make you some pancakes and have my tattoo chick lick all up on you.” That was really the only thing he did in the show. But now that he’s pissed I’m sure that he’ll bring dowm some more jail houses and/or magically appear in random placaces with out the ability to jump through time like F’n Hiro!!
So where were all the other characters? Petere is off with sound chick and/or flying around with his ability to fly. Mom Patrelli is off scowling at people and predicting 10 mins into the future. Matt is off being Matt and not doing a damn thing except for that stupid face he does. And the rest of the cast is just kinda fartin’ around while Hiro and Adam do battle to the death in some light filled tunnel. I kinda hope we see Adam again, but seeing as he’s died, yet again, I don’t think we will. Fail on the writers part.
So that’s my story of the night. I’m writing about Heroes and not about the funtastic time Jess and Chase and I have had over the past few months. Not about how I am in love with the most amazing woman in the world. Not about how I am happier than I have ever been in my life or how I have some amazing friends. This post is not about the dramatic changes internaly that I’ve gone through over the past year or how people that I once thought I would never be able to hang out with, spent the night at our place on New Years. I’m not here writing about friends lost and friends gained over the past 14 months. Nope, this post is about Heroes. Stay tuned for all that other nonsense.
So I have to say that this past weekend was exactly as it should be. Well, there are a few things I would have changed, but for the most part it was every thing that I could have imagined that a 30th birthday weekend cabin trip could’ve been.

Let’s try this again…
Friday: Saw Star Trek with Meghann and Brad. It was amazing. I really like the story and coming from a non-Trekkie I really enjoyed it. They threw in enough one-liners that if you’ve ever seen an episode of Star Trek or any of the movies you could follow along. All around it was a pretty good movie. Friday night I got a text from a friend reminding me of something I had kinda started to lose sight of. It could not have come at a better time.
Saturday: Went working out with my trainer Joey and my sister’s best friend Jo, This was the first time I had been to the gym and had a trainer and I have to tell ya, it was worth it. It was one of the better work outs I’ve had and I can’t wait to get back to the gym. The rest of the day was fairly good. Just some laying around and cleaning. There was talks of going to the drive in to see Star Trek and I figured what the heck. So off I went and after getting there I realized I should’ve brought a chair. I brought my cooler of beer, but everyone else hand their camping chairs and food and all kinds of stuff. Luckily there was plenty of food to go around and I got my eat on. Since I had already seen Trek I decided to take a little nap in the bed of one of the trucks. I watched a good deal of the movie, but for the most part I laid there watching the shooting/falling stars and enjoying just being outside. After the movie, I headed home and called it a night.
Sunday: Mother’s Day rolls around and it was up to me to cook the lunch. I kinda misjudged how long it would take and ended up being late. It was a great lunch and it was good to get to hang out with the family. We ate and chatted and just had a good time. Heather and Jason are going to be such great parents. I’m super excited for them and am looking forward to even more babies in the family. One of these days I’ll start a family and have one of my own, but until then I’ll enjoy the endless supply that seems to be popping out everywhere. After lunch it was a pretty lazy afternoon. Around 7 I got a call from a friend who needed some help with a few things. Me, being me, I rushed over and helped out. After that we hung out and watched TV for a while then I headed home. It was good to have a quiet night watching TV with someone, something I don’t get to do that often. Back home and into the bed.
So that was it. Just an all around good weekend. Sometimes when you least expect it you get a surprise from someone. It brightens your day and reminds you that there are people out there that care. Living alone these past few months has been pretty rough and I really do appreciate the little things.
A lot went on this weekend. Beginning with Friday I was given a welcome reminder of something that I had not heard in a long time. My spirits were lifted. Saturday brought my first session with a personal trainer. I was surprised at myself and am now eager to get back in the gym and finish what I’ve started. To be honest, Saturday night didn’t go the way I wanted it to, but that’s ok. It’s only one night out of countless others. Sunday, Mother’s Day rolls around and despite my best efforts I was late getting to lunch. It was one that I prepared and everyone had to wait on me. I was late because I went for a run. It wasn’t my best run, but I went. The lunch was amazing and consisted of Rib Roast with horseradish and bacon crust, roasted red potatoes, stir fry green beans, and roasted corn on the cob. Sunday afternoon was spent on the couch. Sunday evening I got an unexpected and again, welcome request to help out. Me, being me, I swooped into action and accomplished what needed to be done. I then offered to a helping hand at other things and happiness was had all around. However, against my better judgment, I crossed a line. It was ok because on the other side was what needed to be there and though I left disappointed in myself, all was forgiven. Back at home, I feel a bit relieved but at the same time, my hands bring back thoughts of tonight.
I said what I needed to say and the words reached their intended recipient. No one got hurt but myself, but that was more of a self inflicted wound. One that I will recover from tomorrow.
I do also want to say that I am glad to be a friend of Jessica Canning. She inspires and I am grateful to have her in my life. I am proud of her and I admire the strength she possesses. Against everything, she has done what she needed to do, for her and for Chase, not for anyone else. Thank you Jess for letting me be a part of your life.
Yet so little desire to put it all down. I have a big update post in the works, but I want to at least go ahead and throw out a congrats to Sean and Valerie on their new baby as well as Rick and Lacy on their marriage! Our circle of friends is growing up fast. I forsee many changes this year in this group. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where life takes us.
I do want to add that over the past week there has been a huge change in my life. In addition to the offer that I finally got on the house, indicating forward momentum and growth and excitement, there have been a few things that are now gone from my life. In the end, it is for the better. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting a bit in the mean time.
So be on the look out for some updates. I’ve got more info on the house selling, me losing about 10+ lbs and being down to my lowest weight since before the marriage and nearly getting to my lowest weight since before highschool. I want to share a bit about my vacation last week, running, impending surgery, compression socks, and many other things. I’ve let this blog/journal lay dormant for too long and I really do need to start writing again. Just this small amount has been uplifting. I kinda feel like I could write all night. But I won’t.
As with nearly every day, Lewis and I went on another punning spree. Now for your reading pleasure…or displeasure depending your level of comfort for bad puns.

I know, it was pretty bad…but that’s how we roll.
Tonight after much drinkin, Kit decided that it would be in everyone’s best interest to drive the “penis car” to the strip club. We all (me an Bob) went along and hopped in the car. Well about 2 miles from the house Kit decided to get us pulled over. This was after the pushing the gas all they way down and hitting 70 in a 45. She totally was tyring to see how much penis she could get out of the car, and the cop that was sitting there caught on to her little game. Well needless to say, we got pulled over, she blew a something over the legal limit and it was all downhill from there. Well, with my persuasive powers, Bob’s kindness, and Kit’s boobs we got out of disaster. After all was said and done, my brother-in-law, Chris came to pick us up, Kit got off with 2 tickets, and we ended up heading back to my house. Travesty averted and the night will most likely end at my place. Yay for Powder Springs police!
That’s all I have for now. I may post more tomorrow…or I may just go for a run. Either way it’ll be a lot more fun than sitting in the back seat of a car waiting on a cop to issue us some punishment.
After reading this article, and sending it to Lewis, we decided exactly how the conversation must’ve gone. Enjoy.
Ben: Gene: Ok, so we need to get 3,200ft of cable over there. Any ideas?
Jeff: We could attache them to a helicopter and take it over.
Gene: Really? That’s the best you got?
Jeff: Well it’s better than the rocket idea I had.
Gene: What rocket idea?! OMG! Rocketz! Someone get me some rockets!
Lewis: Gene Wang and Jeff Chong… of course
haha
Jeff: It’s a good thing I didn’t mention ‘a guy with a jetpack’ idea
Ben: Gene: What’s that Jeff? Did you say something about a jetpack?
Gene: The noise from the rockets kinda drowned you out.
Lewis: Jeff: NO, i meant. Deaf bats, yes, Deaf bats are poising a problem for the uh, hey look a rocket!
Gene: ROCKETZ!
Ben: this is getting posted
Lewis: do it!
but use a rocket — somehow
fire bottle rockets at your keyboard
So there it is. I managed to get an actual transcript of how that conversation took place. Man, from now on I’m using rockets for everything at the house. If I need to rake leaves…rockets. Change the litter, yep, rocket. I don’t think there’s anything a rocket can’t help out with.
Yesterday Natasha and I decided to head to dinner in town. We’ve been trying out different places and I couldn’t come up with a good place so she suggested Vini Vidi Vici. I’ve heard good things about there so it was a no brainer. We met up and headed that way since traffic and parking would be a pain in the ass, riding together seemed like the only logical choice. Well, traffic in town was a bitch and we passed the place and had to circle back around, which is not as easy as it sounds in 6:00 traffic in Atlanta. So about an hour after our reservations, we made it.
Now typically I go for the crazy special item or the chef selection or what not at new places, but I was in the mood for something a bit more traditional. I decided on the Spaghetti Casalinga (Homemade Spaghetti And Veal Meatballs, Crushed Tomatoes, Garlic, Basil). I have to say, that junk was off the chain. Natasha had the Fettucine, an excellent choice. The only thing better than the entrées were the fact that they screwed up and didn’t bring out the Bruschetta. This prompted the manager to come over and offer desert for free! We went with the cheesecake. If you happen to go there, get the cheesecake, it iwas unbelieveable.
While the manager was over, I got to talking to him about what it takes to work in a kitchen such as theirs. I told him that I was looking to start culinary school next year and would it would be nice to know what all is out there. He said that they do internships all the time and gave me his card. He said to give him and call and see what all was avaialble. So I’ll give him and call tonight or tomorrow and see! How cool could that be? I would totally do that. Gotta start somewhere right?
I’ll post any word I hear from him. Last night was just fantastic all around. Great food, amazing company, and a possible career start. Yay for awesomeness!
Last night was pretty awesome. Gretchen invited a group of us out for drinks to celebrate her birthday (2 days prior). Before dinner, my friend, Jillian and I headed out to dinner. She wanted to head to Nava. I’ve wanted to eat there for a while and this was perfect opportunity. As with most new restaurants I like to try the special or what ever the waiter suggests. I ended up getting the chicken tortilla soup and Jillian had the wild mushroom soup. Both were pretty flippin good. For dinner I got the Jalapeño Giant Shrimp With Key Lime Essence, Black Bean Enchiladas, Pineapple Scotch Bonnet Glaze. In addition to that the waiter informed me about a special hot sauce/salsa the head chef makes. I’ve had some hot sauces before and the waiter said it was crazy hot. However it wasn’t that bad. However the flavor was amazing. Next time I go back, I’ll make sure to get that again. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the company, and the food. Thank you Jillian for suggesting the location for dinner.
After dinner we headed over to the Cafe del Sol (next to the Highland End). We hung out with some people, had a few drinks and just had a good time. Since it was a school night we couldn’t be out too late, that and I had to drive Jillian back to her car then all the way back home. Despite having to leave early it was still good to hang out with some new people. I’ll have to hang out with this group again.
So that was that. Just a good night with good food and good people. One of those rare chill nights where things just go right.
