Wanted to clear up any confusion that may be out there

March 29th, 2009 Ben No comments

I’ve got about a million posts on my mind that I want to write, but they are going to have to wait for another day. Things on my mind right now are just not meant to be put out there for the world to see. Some people know, but for the most part this is something that I’m going to have to work through. But that isn’t what this post is all about.

Last night I hung out with Jess. I went to Griffin, we had some dinner, chatted, headed to her place, had some drinks, I hooked her up with a shit ton of music, then we watched Freddy vs. Jason, we talked some, then went to sleep. Got up this morning, had breakfast, and I headed home. There wasn’t anything I left out. That was it. Just two friends, enjoying some time together. Nothing more, nothing less. I know there are a lot of people that want the “deets” or whatever, but you got them. There they are.

It is totally conceivable for two people to have a fun time together and that’s it. From my understanding there were all sorts of questions flying around last night and this morning about what all went on and this and that, well, see the first sentence in the previous paragraph.

This will probably not make sense or have no meaning to some people, but what eves. I just wanted to clear the air of any sort of drama. Now I’m off to finish working on this house. It’ll sell soon. I know it!

For the record, Jess makes a pretty mean French toast. You should try it someday. The nanner stuff she made was pretty stellar as well.

BLAM BLAM!!!!

January 15th, 2009 Ben 1 comment

I know this is probably in poor taste, but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity. So here ya go, the bad pun-off of the day.

me: DUDE!
last night was teh crAzy!

Lewis: oh yeh?

me: http://www.wsbtv.com/news/18485435/detail.html
i was THERE

Lewis: wow, damn, nice!

me: yeah, so i left, and that happend about 10 mins later
i had about 6 friends that were still there

Lewis: that’s nuts man

me: yeah. is it wrong of me to kinda wish i had stayed back a bit?

Lewis: nah
i’m glad the right person won
unless of course that person was on his way to rob something… but still
the first wrong-doer was taught the ultimate lesson
my brother in law is going to end up like that guy, he wouldn’t rob anything but he’s brandished his gun before
one day someone is going to say … oh… POW POW POW

me: PEWPEWPEW!!!!

Lewis: but the gun will say POW and it’ll be more like BANG
haha
OMGLASERPEWPEWPEW
too bad it wasn’t a laser gun

me: if i ever get robbed i’m gonna hold out my hand like a gun and say that.
“gimmie yer wallet!”
“OMGLASERPEWPEWPEW”
he’ll probably end up giving me his wallet

Lewis: he’ll say OMGWALLETBAIBAIBAI

me: yep.
lemme put this email together to lay the smack on some peeps

Lewis: aight
5 minutes

me: i’m trying to decide if it’s appropriate to use the graveyard and a platform for puns based on last nights events
9 minutes

Lewis: doh!
that dude should have known better
than to try it there

me: he must have been confused and was most likely dead tired

Lewis: he should have tried, The Hold-up Palace… or The Thug Sanctum… or something
or You Will Get Robbed Here Street

me: or Pull A Gun and Get Shot Tavern

Lewis: yeah he was ‘lead‘ down the wrong path

me: i hear that place serves some pretty good mushroom caps

Lewis: that’s what he gets for barreling into that situation

me: he under estimated the ground he would have to cover if things went bad

Lewis: the shooter said, cut the “bull, lets” go
wonder if he was watching matrix: reloaded?

me: he was probably inside doing shots of jager
then decided he was having a blast

Lewis: wonder if he lived anywhere near powder springs?

me: doubt it. no one is dying get get out here

Lewis: he should have waited till saturday night, it’d have been more special (reference to lynyrd skynyrd song)
that was a long shot
which is has double the range of the hook’shot‘, btw

me: man, i got nothing over here. i figured it be easier, but i don’t want to beat a dead horse
we should probably just burry the hatched on this

Lewis: my head is killin me too, my puns would be more ‘pow‘erful if i had my wits about me

me: my friend kit was there. i checked in with her this morning, you know, in case kit had any more news

Lewis: winnar!
though, you think any’body’d bag‘ more info after something like that?
5 minutes

me: sorry, i got distracted by work. i’ve had to glock a lot of extra hours on a few of these projects lately

Lewis: doh!

me: yeah, that’s right. back with a vengance. can’t keep a man down for long.
7 minutes

me: you out? or am i sensing mo coming down the pipe in rapid fire succession?

Lewis: i’m drawing up all i got and i’m getting nothin

me: you shootin blanks?

Lewis: doin shots of thera-flu

me: “jennifer:
I’d like to join in the pun, but I bet I’d get shot down if I try to hang with you two”

Lewis: i see you point but it’s hollow
and at this point i’m drawing blank

me: that was a good one. i’ll be right back, i gotta go piss, told you i still had it.

Lewis: italicsfail!

me: doh!
looks like this is winding down. it was a blast, and i’ll unload it on to the bloggin’s in a bit

Yeah, we went there. But its Lewis and I. That’s how we roll.

December 22nd, 2008 Ben No comments

So I found out today that YouTube has full episodes of several different programs. Most notably is MacGyver! Holy bjeez! I went to check it out and after my pre-req Target commercial I was treated to a high-def episode of Mac. I’d embed it if it were allowed. Instead go check it out for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHk15GEmfns.

That’s all I have for now, enjoy. I know I will.

As you may or may not know I’m in Las Vegas this week for PubCon. This will be my second time in Vegas and so far things are going pretty good. Gretchen, Jeff, and I have been rocking the sessions pretty hard trying to gain as much information as we can.

There was an issue with the hotel checkin when we got here, but we finally made it. The downside of taking so long to check in was it looks like we got the shaft on the quality of the rooms. Gretchen is over looking some vents and power boxes and the roof of the adjecent building and the likes. The only positive to her room is that it is large and has a bad ass bathroom. I on the otherhand have a pretty nice view out the back side of the hotel (I can see the Palms and Rio) but have a bjankety bathroom. I reckon that’s the trade off. I’ve not seen Jeff’s room, but I hear it’s got a flats screen TV, decent view, decent bathroom (better than mine, but not quite Gretchen’s). Oh well, it’s not like we will be spending a lot of time in the room.

After we got checked in we headed around looking for stuff to do. First on the list was food. Both of us were wicked hungry and needed something to eat on the quickness. Gretchen wanted to experiece a buffet and I wanted to eat all the food in the world, so it was a perfect match. The buffet at Caesars Palace is dencet. It’s a bit small for the price. The food was ok but it was an odd mix and not a lot of selection. It was your basic buffet.

After the buffet we went to our rooms rested up a bit then walked down the strip to just take in the sights. It was a beautiful day and it was good to be in Las Vegas. Finally we managed to make it to the pool area for some adult beverages and a beautiful sunset.

Jeff rolled up ons around 6ish. We were all famished from the sitting around not really doing anything and Gretchen wanted some Italian food. Well there was only one choice: Batista’s Hole in the Wall. I was here before and it was just as good as last time. We were lucky enough to have the accordian player guy come by. He asked where we were from, and when he heard Atlanta treated us to a little Georgia On My Mind. It was really pretty cool. The food was great and the entire bottle of wine I had to myself was awesome (Jeff and Gretchen split the red while I drank all the white). Unfortunately none of us could eat all our food and it went to waste. Oh well, it’s Vegas there’s always more food or something else to spend money on just around the corner.

Being Gretchen’s first time in Vegas she wanted to go out and have some fun, but on the flip wanted to keep it simple and calm seeing as we were going to be hitting up the conference the following morning at 7:30am. Well, as luck would have it we ended up at Shadow Bar at the hotel meeting new people, having a few drinks and just taking it easy. That is until we went to the “dance” club next to the bar. It was rather weak compared to virtually all other places to dance. The DJ was lacking any ability to get people on the floor, so after a few songs we headed out. A few pulls of the slot machine later on the way to the room and we called it a night.

So that was day one. Not too much going on. We just kinda got use to the area, tested the waters, took it easy and eased into the week ahead. I’ll be back with Tuesday’s post later on. Stay tuned for the crazy shenanigans of Team BJ* and GE.

*Team BJ = Ben and Jeff. While planning what sessions to attend Jeff and I signed up for the same ones and I dubbed us “Team BJ”.

Band practice….for seriously?

October 17th, 2008 Ben No comments
Were they really that short?

Were they really that short?

So this year at McEachern they decided that they would do an alumni band and invite anyone who’s ever played in the marching band or was in the color guard to be part of the halftime show. I’ve always wanted to go back one more time, and this is the year that I get my chance.

As luck would have it, I somehow managed to keep and old band jacket (I have the pants and cumberbund as well). As you can see, it fits like a glove. Well, that is,if the glove was really short and a bit oversized in the chest area. Either way it was good to have a chance to wear the jacket again.

Last night we all met up at the new band room for practice. It was pretty sureal. Aside from the new room, it was just like old times. People broke off into their groups and just kinda hung around and chatted until it was time to line up and play some music. The bass drum felt pretty good. Still heavy, but I kinda missed it. It took a few times through, but everyone sounded good.

I’m really looking forward to tonight. It should be a lot of fun. It’s not that often you get to come back and do stuff like this, and since the 10 year reunion is cancelled, this is a good opportunity to see people. That and most of the people I’d want to see anyway, or weren’t going to be at the reunion are in the band. It’s a win-win situation.

Tonight is the actual game and it’s looking like it’s going to be soaking wet. Then again this is kinda how things use to be back in the day. I’ll post pics and info tomorrow (or later tonight).

All that is man

October 13th, 2008 Ben No comments

While cutting grass on Saturday Sean told me a story of this guy that apparently was attacked by a bear, tried to simply survive, then decided it was him or the bear, and somehow he came out on top. At first I was like, there’s no way this could be real, but then I found the article. Here’s the story: Man Kills Bear with stick.

After reading the story, I kinda felt sorry for the bear. Not just because of the 2 cubs, but because something tells me the bear would’ve started backing down after it had been hit a few times. Then again, I wasn’t a guy who had just been partially eaten by a bear. I’m just shocked that after the guy had already rendered the bear seemingly unconscious, he continued to beat it. Maybe it’s just me, but if I have a gash on my head, arm, and rib cage I’m gonna get’s to gettin’ ASAP. Especially if that gash was caused by a bear eating me. But he didn’t he continued to swing his piece of wood at the bear. Wait….what? I maybe would’ve rephrased that. Perhaps the title of the article should’ve been: “Man uses his wood to kill bear”.

Oh well, I reckon it was survival of the fittest, or at least survival of the largest wood. I know if I were him, I’d keep the stick and every time someone challenged me just bust that out and say “just fyi, I did kill a bear with that, don’t think I won’t use it on you.”
